Day One of the 2014 Pepsi IPL Player Auction got underway yesterday (12 February 2014) with Sydney Thunder’s Mike Hussey and David Warner going under the hammer whilst fellow teammates Tillakaratne Dilshan, Ajantha Mendis and Dirk Nannes going unsold.
The IPL Auction, which saw $39M AUS spent yesterday, featured a 514-strong list of players available, with 70 players sold on the first day. India’s Yuvraj Singh ($2.3M AUS) fetched the highest price followed by Dinesh Karthik ($2.08M AUS) and Kevin Pietersen ($1.5M AUS).
Sydney Thunder skipper Mike Hussey was sold to the Mumbai Indians from Chennai Super Kings for $880k whilst David Warner moves from the Delhi Daredevils to SunRisers Hyderabad for $978k.
Mitchell Johnson ($1.08M AUS) and Glenn Maxwell ($1M AUS) were the most sought after Australians.
Players that were unsold on the opening day, including Sydney Thunder players Tillakaratne Dilshan, Ajantha Mendis and Dirk Nannes , will be re-included in the auction today (13 February 2014).
Young quick Gurinder Sandhu will also feature in the IPL Auction today.
