Sydney Thunder captain Phoebe Litchfield will be in lime green for another three years after extending her contract with the Western Sydney club.
Thunder Captain Phoebe Litchfield Commits For Three More Years
Litchfield's extension reinforces her commitment to the Thunder Nation, boosting the team as they head into tonight's Weber WBBL finals at Drummoyne Oval against the Hobart Hurricanes.
At just 21, Litchfield has already established herself as one of the premier talents in Australian cricket. Her leadership on and off the field has been instrumental in Thunder’s success this season, and the club is ecstatic to secure her services through to the end of WBBL|13.
Sydney Thunder General Manager Trent Copeland expressed his excitement at the news:
“Phoebe Litchfield signing a three-year extension is about as good a news as this club could possibly deliver leading into the finals. Phoebe is our leader—she’s vibrant, the energy she brings, the culture she’s created just through her actions and loving the game like she does. There really wasn’t many things more important to me and this club than securing Phoebe as our leader for the future.
“The three-year extension is such great news, not only for the club but also to reward Phoebe for everything that she’s doing—no less the runs that she’s scoring that are crucial to our success.
“One of my main priorities for me this season was to clearly establish our game style—something that our fans and members can develop an affinity for, so they know how we’re going to show up and the brand of cricket we’re going to play—and Phoebe is the centrepiece of that.
“It’s an amazing day for the club, and hopefully, this news propels us towards lifting the trophy at the end of the tournament.”
Phoebe Litchfield shared her excitement about continuing her journey with the Thunder:
“I’m so proud to call Sydney Thunder my home, and I couldn’t be happier to commit to the club for another three years. This team means so much to me, and I believe we’re building something really special here.
“Playing in front of our amazing fans and representing Thunder is always an honour, and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together.
Litchfield’s extension is a testament to Thunder’s vision of cultivating young talent and fostering a culture of success, as they aim for a third WBBL title.
