Sydney Thunder is committed to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities across the Thunder Nation through a variety of initiatives, including the annual First Nations T20 Cup played against the Sydney Sixers.
Proudly supported by Homestar Finance, the event celebrates cricket, culture, and community while showcasing the talent of NSW’s top First Nations cricketers.
The commitment by Cricket NSW, Sydney Thunder and Sydney Sixers to the First T20 Cup is an ongoing action outlined in the CNSW Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP).

The Sydney Thunder teams are supported by Homestar Finance, and Mandy Sly, Homestar’s General Manager – Operations, said it was important to connect sport with the community.
“The commitment of Cricket NSW and Sydney Thunder in supporting the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities by combining culture and cricket into the Indigenous T20 Cup makes us proud to be a sponsor of Sydney Thunder.
We hope it encourages these communities to get involved in the great game of cricket, share stories, and hopefully even see a future Sydney Thunder player in the making.”
This year, the Thunder women's side successfully retained the trophy while the men's team went down in a thriller. Read a recap from the 2025 First Nations T20 Cup - HERE.
