Thunder Complete Travels With Emphatic Victory Over Stars

Hannah Darlington starred with the ball, and in the field, before Chamari Athapaththu and Tahlia Wilson continued their fine form, as the Sydney Thunder ended their first week on the road with an emphatic victory over the Melbourne Stars.

A tight fielding display, epitomised by the first two wickets coming from run outs, restricted the hosts to 5/123 from their 20 overs, Darlington adding a further two wickets to her WBBL|09 tally.

Athapaththu and Wilson then shared their fourth 50+ opening stand of the summer, eventually putting on a season best 119, before the Sri Lankan fell for 39-ball 69.

Wilson was unmoved though, ending with an unbeaten 45 from 33 deliveries, as Phoebe Litchfield completed the game in style with a maximum.
