Reigning champions Perth Scorchers left the Sydney Showground with a seven-wicket victory as they solidified their place in the top four.
After the afternoon showers passed, Perth Scorchers’ Aaron Hardie won the toss and chose to bowl first in the Best Of The West clash.
Tom Kohler-Cadmore hit his first two maximums in a Thunder shirt in a quickfire 27 from 18 deliveries, but fell to one of three run outs in the innings.
Alex Hales, Thunder’s leading run-scorer in the Big Bash League was dismissed with just two balls remaining, finishing with a 55-ball 72 as Thunder posted 8/137 from their 20 overs.
In reply, Zak Crawley and Aaron Hardie (22) led the Scorchers’ from the top of the order, the English import matching Hales’ earlier efforts with a half-century of his own.
Crawley would fall for 58 but Josh Inglis (26*) guided the visitors to victory with five deliveries to spare.
