Adelaide Strikers came out on top at a sold-out Manuka Oval, as they secured their spot in the top four in BBL|13.
In front of a 11,173-strong crowd in Canberra, visiting skipper Matt Short led his side to victory with an unbeaten half-century.
Having won the toss and elected to bat first, Alex Hales and David Warner once again put the power play overs to good use, adding 36 inside 3.5 overs before the latter fell to Jamie Overton for 13.
Hales powered on to a 32-ball 43, bringing up 2,000 runs for Sydney Thunder in the process, before feathering an edge through to Harry Nielsen off Cameron Boyce.
Cameron Bancroft, Alex Ross and Matt Gilkes all made starts before Chris Green (19 from 12) and Daniel Sams (11* from 6) lifted the total to 142 all out, Jamie Overton and Lloyd Pope the pick of the visiting attack.
In reply, the competition’s leading run-scorer this summer, Short, found the Manuka Oval to his liking, peppering the boundaries on his way to 74* off 49.
He found ample support in the in-form Jake Weatherald (47* from 31) as the Strikers won by nine wickets and securing the final spot in the top four.
