One of Australia’s most promising spin-bowling talents, Sienna Eve, has put pen to paper with Sydney Thunder ahead of the upcoming Weber WBBL|10 season.
Thunder sign Aus U19 star
Eve, who hails from Newcastle, located two hours north of Western Sydney, joins a strong Thunder team only months after securing her first professional contract with the NSW Women’s team.
The left-arm orthodox bowler has had a remarkable journey through the state and national pathways system. She kicked off last summer’s junior representative season by leading the NSW Country bowling attack at the 2023-24 Under19 Female National Championships, claiming 10 wickets at an average of seven.
Eve would then pick up four wickets for the Australian Under19 Women’s team in a recent tri-series against Sri Lanka and England, in Sri Lanka, including an impressive spell of 3-10 against England.
A season of consistently notable performances culminated in her receiving the prestigious Alex Blackwell Medal for Female NSW Country Player of the Season.

Thunder’s new rising star could hardly contain her excitement when talking about her signing.
“Incredible! Still a very surreal experience,” Eve said.
“[I’m] so excited to be able to be surrounded by so many amazing players, and very grateful for the opportunity.
“It’s really helpful having the likes of Phoebe [Litchfield] and Hannah [Darlington] in the team. They’ve come through a similar path to how I started, and having people around you that are a similar age really makes the experience more relatable.”
This would not be the first time Eve and Litchfield have teamed up, with the pair having previously joined forces for a NSW Primary Schools Sports Association (PSSA) competition.
“It was a PSSA tournament, back when I was in fourth class and she was in sixth class,” Eve said.
“She was whacking fifties every single game even back then so, it was great to see her go through the stages and [I’m] excited to play with her again, that’d be awesome.”
Sydney Thunder General Manager Trent Copeland shared Eve’s excitement and emphasised the valuable opportunity this presents for the emerging spinner.
“This is a special moment for both Sienna and the club,” Copeland said.
“Sienna’s signing is a testament to her hard work, and we're thrilled to support her as she takes this next big step in her career.
“We’re committed to developing our young players into successful cricketers, but more importantly great people. This is just the beginning of Sienna’s journey, and we’re excited to see where her talent and dedication will take her.”
