Sydney Thunder have finalised their squad for the upcoming Weber WBBL|10 season, securing one of Australia’s most exciting young talents, Ella Briscoe.
Sydney Thunder completes squad for WBBL|10 with Ella Briscoe signing
The all-rounder from Sutherland impressed selectors with her power hitting and composure under pressure throughout the inaugural T20 Spring Challenge.
Briscoe’s inclusion completes a well-balanced squad full of youthful energy and WBBL experience, and the young cricketer couldn’t be more excited to get started.
“It’s an incredible opportunity,” Briscoe said. “I’ve always dreamt of playing at this level, and to do it with a club like Sydney Thunder is just amazing. I’m really looking forward to learning from the incredible players and coaches here.”
Briscoe’s strong performance in the Spring Challenge was a key factor in her signing, with Sydney Thunder General Manager Trent Copeland praising her ability to deliver under pressure.
“We were looking for a player with that extra bit of x-factor, and Ella delivered exactly that,” Copeland said. “She’s got a fantastic temperament, which really stood out in several pressure moments during the Spring Challenge. We’re excited to see what she’ll bring to Thunder this season.”
Copeland also highlighted the importance of Briscoe’s versatility, noting her contributions with both the bat and ball.
“Ella has some really exciting raw attributes. Not only can she provide power in the middle order, but her size and action with the ball are also something we’re eager to see develop this season. She’s the perfect fit for Thunder’s vision of fostering young, talented cricketers.”
Briscoe is part of the next generation of Thunder players, following in the footsteps of young stars like Phoebe Litchfield, and aims to make her mark this season.
“The squad has an incredible mix of experience and youth,” Briscoe added. “I can’t wait to get started and contribute wherever I can.”
Sydney Thunder are set to open their WBBL|10 campaign in Hobart against the Hurricanes on October 28 before returning to Sydney to face the same opponent at North Sydney Oval next Thursday night (October 31).
Sydney Thunder will call Drummoyne Oval this season with three home matches happening on 12th, 17th and 20th of November, and are calling all #ThunderNation fans to come show their support.
