Thunder set for Sydney Smash at Drummoyne Oval

Sydney Thunder Head Coach Lisa Keightley has named her 13-player squad for the much-anticipated Sydney Smash against the Sydney Sixers at Drummoyne Oval this Sunday, November 17 (5:25 pm AEDT).

This fixture marks the latest chapter in the intense rivalry between Thunder and Sixers, as Thunder stars Chamari Athapaththu and Phoebe Litchfield prepare to face off against Sixers icons Ellyse Perry and Alyssa Healy in what promises to be an electrifying encounter.

Thunder have made one change to their squad, with experienced all-rounder Georgia Adams replacing England captain Heather Knight who departs for national duties.

“We extend our thanks to Heather for her incredible contributions to Sydney Thunder. Her presence brought out the best in our players, and while we always knew this chapter would come since the draft, she never failed to make an impact", said Head Coach Lisa Keightley.

“We’ve planned ahead for this moment and are excited to welcome Georgia Adams. She brings a wealth of experience and leadership, and we’re confident she’ll make a strong impact on our squad.

Sunday’s match is part of an exciting doubleheader, with Brisbane Heat taking on Melbourne Stars in the curtain-raiser. Fans will get the chance to watch Indian superstars Deepti Sharma, Yastika Bhatia, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Shikha Pandey in action, making this a day of cricket not to be missed.

Alongside the cricket action, Thunder will host a Cricket & Culture Festival at Taplin Park, just outside Drummoyne Oval. Festival highlights include Bhangra dancers, Bollywood dance classes, a live DJ, diverse food and drink stalls, henna and face painting, inflatables, tape ball games, and a showcase of the Women’s T20 World Cup Trophy. The festival opens at 1:00pm and is free to attend.
