Konstas offered national contract

Sydney Thunder superstar Sam Konstas has joined the list of 23 men’s players to be offered national contracts by Cricket Australia (CA) for 2025/26.

Konstas set the Big Bash League alight on debut last season, striking the fastest half-century in Thunder history against the Adelaide Strikers at Manuka Oval.

His proceeding selection into the Australian squad was closely followed, and he marked his Test debut in style with a flamboyant 60 against a formidable Indian bowling attack in the Boxing Day Test at the MCG.

Konstas joins fellow Thunder squad member and Australian Test captain Pat Cummins on the list.

Men’s Chair of National Selectors George Bailey said:

“In Sam we see promising upside in a young player who will continue to develop at first class level and in the international environment.”

The MOU between Cricket Australia and the Australian Cricketer’s Association states between 20 and 24 male players are eligible to be contracted.

As in previous years, players will have the opportunity to upgrade to national contracts in the 12-month period via selection in Test, ODI and T20I cricket.
